Bold Theatre. Fearless Stories.
The Birmingham Black Box Theatre Group CIC creates bold, character-driven theatre that explores the psychological and social forces shaping human relationships.

The Birmingham Black Box Theatre Group CIC is an independent producing theatre company creating bold, original work that challenges, provokes, and entertains.
Founded by playwright, director, and sociologist Dr. Carlette Norwood, the company develops character-driven theatre that explores complex human experiences, from psychological relationships and power dynamics to dark comedy, suspense, and socially conscious storytelling.
Originally launched as The Birmingham Black Box in 2024, an intimate performance venue known for immersive and thought-provoking productions, the organisation has evolved into a producing theatre company that collaborates with venues across the UK. This allows the company to bring its distinctive style of storytelling to wider audiences while preserving the raw intensity of close-up theatre.
The Birmingham Black Box Theatre Group is committed to producing new work that sparks conversation and invites audiences to engage with stories that are daring, emotionally resonant, and socially relevant.
Past productions include Laroche and The Narcissist, two powerful works that reflect the company’s commitment to fearless storytelling and compelling performances.
Through its productions and creative collaborations, the company continues to champion original voices and create theatre that lingers long after the curtain falls.
